GCSE
* GCSE Maths and English at least Grade C/4. ALL primary applicants must also have GCSE Science at least Grade C/4.
* Qualifications gained overseas will be subject to ENIC verification.
Degree
* A UK Bachelors degree
* An ENIC certificate for qualifications gained overseas which shows equivalency to a UK degree
Degree content
For Secondary applicants, degrees are usually, though not exclusively, relevant to the subjects to be taught. We may request you undertake a subject enhancement course (SKE) if relevant to increase your subject knowledge. Please note that funding for SKE courses is only guaranteed until the end of the academic year so we advise you apply early for our course if you think you will require an SKE. SKE courses are currently available in 5 secondary subjects: chemistry, computing, languages, mathematics, physics. Please visit https://getintoteaching.education.gov.uk/how-to-apply-for-teacher-training/subject-knowledge-enhancement for more information.
Primary applicants will need to evidence their subject knowledge within the national curriculum. Degrees in curriculum subjects are desirable, as are A-levels in order to provide the necessary knowledge and skills for teaching across the Primary Curriculum.
For applicants with non-curriculum degrees the relevance of the degree to teaching, along with evidence of other studies, will be advantageous.
Skills Tests & Fundamental Maths / English
The requirement to pass the skills tests has been removed. Your fundamental Maths and English skills in English and Maths will be assessed at interview and throughout your ITT year.
