We are an established and successful teacher training provider and have been training teachers across West Yorkshire since 2003. Rated ‘Good’ in our latest Ofsted Inspection, June 2023, leaders have created a very strong partnership. This is built on the shared purpose of ensuring trainees are well prepared to join the ‘professional family’ of teachers in the Kirklees and Calderdale area.

Our model is essentially an ‘on-the-job’ model of training. Instead of being based in a University, trainees are based in a host school and benefit from a range of training experiences, delivered both centrally and within a range of schools. Our trainees meet regularly with their peers to train, network and support each other. By the end of our course, trainees will have acquired and developed pedagogical skills based on practical experiences with a range of local schools alongside our central training programme.

Kirklees & Calderdale SCITT has an experienced core team of central trainers who come from differing backgrounds within Education, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to our central programme. This theoretical programme enhances and supports the school based learning.

From 2024 Kirklees and Calderdale SCITT will be a Lead Delivery Partner with Huddersfield Horizon SCITT. Huddersfield Horizon will be the accrediting provider and QTS will be ratified by Huddersfield Horizon SCITT.

We are also able to offer trainees the opportunity to achieve a PGCE in Partnership with the University of Huddersfield.
