Nationally there are several routes into teacher training (SCITT, School Direct, PGCE, Salaried and unsalaried) – we currently accredit SCITT and School Direct routes ALL with optional PGCE.

Our SCITT places are recruited by ourselves along with colleagues from our numerous partner schools in Kirklees and Calderdale. On Apply you would search for ‘Kirklees & Calderdale SCITT’ to find our course(s). If successful, you would be placed in one of our Partner Schools. They are unsalaried and are offered as either QTS alone or QTS with PGCE. Primary is 5-11 and Secondary is 11-16.
For the School Direct route you would be recruited by a lead school and then placed in one of their associated partner schools. Our School Direct Partners are listed below. On Apply you would search for ‘SCHOOL DIRECT PARTNER NAME’. Our School Direct Partners offer mainly unsalaried places but do sometimes offer salaried places. Search on Apply for up to date place information.
Whether SCITT or School Direct, you will be in school from the 1st day of term with one day a week at our central training venue with the other trainees. If you choose to do PGCE you also have an additional 6 days when you will attend Huddersfield University for lectures. For all routes you will have 2 marked assignments to complete during the year. Your training year runs from September to July and you will have 2 school placements.
We believe in a highly school focussed training where you learn in a school from experienced colleagues.
